Protection Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:
- To build the capacity of WV Myanmar office and staff in Protection (Humanitarian Protection, Child protection, Gender and Disability) through staff training, introducing appropriate assessment tools, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- To Develop strategy of integration to integrate and mainstream protection and child participation into ADPs/Projects.
- To provide technical support and guidance to Anti trafficking in Persons programming, special focus in prevention, capacity building, networking and advocacy and return and reintegration.
- To seek effective collaboration with local and international NGOs, UN agencies and local government bodies to ensure protection in the operation area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clear and logical overall Protection Strategy for WV Myanmar context, and disseminate to ADPs / project staff
- Ensure participation and buy-in from Senior Management Team, sectorial specialists and NO Operations
- Submit the Protection Strategy paper to Division Director.
- Review Strategy annually, and make necessary changes
- Draft business plan for every FY, in coordination with the team and other divisions and departments
Provide staff orientation and training related to Protection, ensuring their level of understanding
- Conduct staff orientation on rights based approach, with appropriate language in Myanmar context
- Training participation should be more than 80% of planned participants no.
- Necessary advice and tools are provided to each sector within 1 week after the request
Ensure 3LEAP Cross-cutting themes related to Protection(Protection, Gender and Disability) are incorporated into ADP/ project assessment/design/ evaluation documents
- In coordination with D,M&E department, Prepare Protection standards (checklist) and monitor the progress of 3 LEAP cross-cutting themes (Protection, Disability and Gender)
- Ensure 3 LEAP cross-cutting themes (Protection, Disability and Gender) are appropriately mentioned in each program/ project proposals before the submission
- Ensure all the assessment/ monitoring tools include protection concerns
- Review project/ program reports and ensure protection concerns are appropriately mentioned
Strengthen capacity of ADP and NO staff to enhance child participation in projects and programs.
- Child participation tools developed
- Guideline that will support ADPs developed and shared to ADPs.
- Training provided to ADP and NO staff on child participation.
- Actively involve during assessment, design, monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure child participation.
Provide leadership and guidance to ATIP programming
- Guidance provided for effective ATIP programming.
- Staff trained on prevention, advocacy, R&R
- Networking with other NGOs and relevant government agencies.
Manage human resource appropriately
- In collaboration with HR Department ensure timely recruitment of project staff members align with HR policies
- Advice, guide and assist staff with appropriate capacity building and development opportunities
- Conduct regular staff appraisals according to the HR requirement
- Develop the capacity of national staff/ relevant committee members for the sustainable protection mainstreaming
Accurate and timely narrative project reports as required
- Submit monthly, quarterly and annual narrative reports on time
- Submit monthly and quarterly and annual financial reports on time, in coordination with Finance department
Contribute to WV Myanmar’s active learning culture and motivate the relevant staff
- Create Protection Library which can be accessible by all the staff members
- Accumulate good practices and lesson learned and share with WV Myanmar staff as well as partnership
Good coordination with other protection focused organization
- More than 80% attendance on Protection relevant meeting
- Brief meeting results to be sent back to PQ&D director and relevant staff
Initiate proactive advocacy activities to make policy/ guideline favorable for the vulnerable groups
- Provide context specific analysis with concrete data to make stronger advocacy message
Ensure the timely response and documentation of incident cases
- Create internal reporting format for Protection incident cases
- Set up the mechanism for any protection incidence cases to be reported to Protection coordinator internally, regardless whether WV should respond or not

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- University Graduate (BA) in an appropriate discipline
- More than 3 years of related field experience
- Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent analytical/problem-solving skills and detail orientation
- Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
- Good organizational skills and time management
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Thorough knowledge of MS Office and Lotus Notes
- Good understanding of the Sphere standards
- Knowledge of and adherence to the Red Cross and NGO Code of Conduct
- Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, emotional maturity and physical stamina
- Able to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources
- Commitment to World Vision Core Values and Mission Statement
- Able to exhibit exemplary lifestyle as interpreted in specific local culture context
- Academic Background in Law or Human Rights preferred
